The Problems of Refugees

Wars create their own socially, physically, and psychologically unpleasant outcomes. People do not notice them at first, but when the war shows its true colours, unexpected guests, that is, refugees start to appear everywhere. Life gets very difficult for the people exposed to a war, and thus they make an attempt to escape from their hometown where they grew. For instance, there has been a war in Syria for three years. Therefore, approximately 5 million Syrian  citizens have emigrated to especially neighboring countries. The great majority of them have come to Turkey. If there was a war in Turkey, how would it change your life? Would you stay in your hometown and fight for your life?  They hope to find a new life but a load of refugees have problems. Clearly, refugees’ problems can be divided into three parts: health problems, financial problems, and lack of education for children.

First of all, refugees have not got anyone to help them about their state of health, so they might contract virus and bacteria.  They try to survive with little food most of the time. Obviously, this situation brings about worse health problems. Provided that they reach the west, they think that their life will be better, but unfortunately other problems await them, such as drowning in the Aegean sea.

Secondly, when refugees succeed to arrive in another country, they face finacial problems. What is at issue is that life is more expensive in Turkey than Syria. They must work for basic needs. Actually, Turkey is literally another war zone. Bosses give them a very low salary; hence, refugees have to work in two jobs at the same time. Sometimes, they do not find a job and they heartbreakingly beg on the roadside. Generally, children make up begging refugees. In short, having financial problems lead to other problems for refugees.

Finally, formal education is an indispensable guide for children. Particularly immigrants’ children are devoid of education which they need. This is because they have to work for their family. Later on, when the war finishes, they will go back home. They need education to move on their life. The authorities should not be indifferent to this delicate issue.

All in all, there are clearly three problems which refugees have: health problems, financial difficulties, and lack of formal education. In my opinion, these problems should be handled by the authorities urgently and the UN must help the refugees because most of the countries are responsible for the war in Syria, Iraq, and so on. The citizens of such countries, especially children do not deserve bad living conditions in another country.
