America vs Turkey

Western nations have developed more dramatically than the others as the time flies. The United States in particular has shown a remarkable development in terms of economic, social, and political aspects though it was founded in the 18th century. Not only has the United States made progress, but also Turkey, a much younger country, has been developing since the 1920s.  Both of them are quite similar in some ways, but they also show several key differences.

Turkey and the US have three similarities. Firstly, both of them are multinational countries, and they speak different languages in their countries. The US holds a lot of Mexican, French, and Turkish people. Similarly, there are a lot of Roumanians, Americans, and Armenians in Turkey. Another example is that the American speak English, Spanish, and French. The Turco speak Turkish, Kurdish, and Azeri. Also, American citizens attach importance to their religion, just as Turkish citizens do. The American folks go to the church every Sunday. Likewise, the Turkish people go to the mosque every Friday. Moreover, the period of compulsory education is 12 years in both countries.

Despite these similarities between Turkey and the United States, they have 3 key differences in location, politics and culture. First of all, while Turkey is located between Asia and Europe, the US is located in only North America. Therefore, Turkey has balanced climates which are temperate; hot, dry summers and wet winters; harsher and interior. Secondly, the US is managed with constitution-based federal republic which has a strong democratic tradition, whereas Turkey is conducted by republican parliamentary with democracy. Also, death penalty is in force in the US, but it is not legal in Turkey. Finally, Turkish cultures differ from those in the US. For instance, Turkish cuisine is found in the top ten. Besides, while Turkish people do not use pork in their foods, the American like eating it.

In brief, it can be seen that the United States is similar to Turkey in three ways which are being a multinational country, attaching importance to religion, and the period of study. On the other hand, these two countries differ in their location, politics, and culture. If I had to prefer one of them, I would choose Turkey because its public has a common spirit of comradeship.
