Effects of Cultural shock

Throughout people’s life, people have faced numerous problems. In other words, life is very long with different problems in every part of it. When people travel abroad, one of the leading problems is cultural shock and there are, no doubt, countless effects of cultural shock. Of all these effects, staying away from acquaintances, communication problems, and cultural differences are the most striking ones.

One of the most prominent effects of cultural shock is that people stay away from their acquaintances with whom they normally spend time. First of all, people feel the deficiency of social surroundings now that they are familiar with people in their own country. Therefore, when they travel to foreign countries, they have trouble and they feel alone. Furthermore, they pine over their families inasmuch as their families provide a number of facilities that make their life easier. For this reason, they have difficulty overcoming their problems.

Another significant effect is communication problems. To begin with, people have major language problems. By way of illustration, even if   people can speak the language which belongs to the country they visit, they have very serious problems. Moreover, wrong pronunciation leads to serious trouble. When people talk to each other, wrong pronunciation may induce misunderstandings. Hence, life becomes so unbearable for them.

The last effect of living in a different culture is to do with food. Firstly, foreign countries own different meals which are cooked in traditional styles, so that some people are not able to eat these dishes. As a result, they have the deficiency of food, and they lose weight remarkably. In addition, religion factors bring about obstacles because there are certain differences between two beliefs like Islam and Christianity, which results in enormous disagreement among people.

In summary, there are three main effects of cultural shock, which can be listed as staying away from acquaintances, communication problems, and cultural differences. I strongly recommend people had better receive necessary information before they decide to live in another country. Unless they take necessary precautions, they may face problems which are possible to affect their lives terribly.
