Unfortunately, we are devoid of a good society. Nowadays, people are acting incongruously, such as incivility, disrespect to other people, and so on. In sociology, this problem is called ‘social degeneration’. A society which has such problems as income injustice, unemployment, social stratification and social degeneration is a community of serious problems, so that how can we have a good society? We can handle this problem by means of social education, removing social stratification within the society and imposing some state sanctions.
Education is a big part of our lives but sometimes technical education is not enough. If we want to fix something in society, we should teach ‘how to be a good person?’ to our children, that is, moral values. Now then, why should we need social education? Firstly, many people do not know how to speak or how to act in public. We should open a course in every school, and thus teaching these things to people especially to children and teenagers. Secondly, every family can teach community rules to their children, thereby inhibiting social degeneration. Not only the members of the society but also the government should do their best to raise a person of virtue through formal or informal education.
In today’s world, social stratification exists everywhere, which is a clear sign of social inequality. Actually, social stratification is to be abolished if citizens in peace are desired. We can get rid of this unwanted situation in two ways. Firstly, people in general should learn not to show off to others. They should always bear in their mind that there may be someone higher than them as well, so no need to be patronizing and arrogant. Secondly, you should get in the habit of helping people in need whether you are well off or not. According to research, helping to aidless people makes us happier than normal. Laconically, if we raise human values, we can remove any type of social stratification.
Our life standards can affect social degeneration too. Nevertheless, we can make our standards better. Firstly, the government should impose some sanctions. For instance, it can provide food and accommodation for homeless people. Secondly, we can donate for homeless people. For example, we can donate our clothes not fitting us any longer or we can allot some of our money to charity works. In this way, we can enhance living standards of other people, and thus those of the whole society.
To sum up, we can overcome the problem of social degeneration, by means of social education, abolishing social stratification and enforcing some sanctions. Sometimes we are so indifferent to our own society; on the contrary, we can enhance other people’s lives too. Besides, it is not too difficult to be kind, help other people and so on. No matter how much the world alters, we can be a good person and form a good society. I fervently believe that being a good community brings love, friendship and happiness to both us and all people nearby.
