Studying Abroad

Travelling plays a crucial role in almost everyone’s lives all around the world because almost everyone likes travelling and it teaches travelers many things that are not available in books. As the philosopher St. Augustine said: ”The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.” However, there are many types of travel. Undoubtedly, travelling abroad is the most wanted trip by almost everyone, especially by students. One of the best programs for students to go abroad is to get the opportunity study abroad, mostly provided by their own universities. According to the research conducted by Professor Queen at Harward University in 2016, the number of students who want to study abroad increased by 20 percent. I strongly believe that studying abroad has many benefits for students for three reasons: discovering and seeing new things, life-changing experiences and gains, and significant impacts on students’ academic lives.

The first reason why studying abroad is beneficial for students is discovering and seeing new things. By studying abroad, students are able to see natural wonders, museums and historical sites of the host country. Moreover, they have the opportunity to get to know a new culture. In this way, they taste new foods, listen to local music, meet local people and are found in different social environments. What is more, students can discover many new activities, interests and talents that they may never have discovered if they had stayed at home. According to a study in Oxford, the general culture knowledge of students studying abroad is more than others. In conclusion, it appears to me that students discover and see a lot of new things by studying abroad.

The second reason why I think studying abroad is useful for students is life-changing experiences and gains. While studying abroad students are completely away from their environment, their independent personality is revealed. Thus, students discover themselves and learn self-reflection. In other words, studying abroad contributes to the personal development of students. In addition, studying abroad makes students more sensitive to current events and look at events from different perspectives. And of course, students make lifelong friends and meet with them for a long time. These experiences and gains are like gold bracelets that they cannot find anywhere else. If students receive these gold bracelets, their development is positively affected. As a result, I completely agree that trough study abroad, students gain life-changing experiences and gains.

The third reason why I believe studying abroad has many advantages is significant impacts on students’ academic lives. Students have to speak a foreign language when they go abroad, and as the best way to learn a foreign language is practical, students develop their language skills. Moreover, students have the opportunity to experience different styles of education. They have the chance to get a different education of their major that they may not have been exposed to in their universities. Also, due to these experiences, it attracts the attention of employers and increases the opportunities for finding jobs in their countries and abroad. As experts have said, students studying abroad are more successful in their business lives than others. In short, in my opinion, studying abroad has significant impacts on students’ academic lives.

All things considered; it appears to me that studying abroad has many benefits for students. Among these advantages, discovering and seeing new things, life-changing experiences and gains, and significant impacts on students’ academic lives are the most important. As experts have said, students studying abroad are more successful in their business lives than others. In addition to this, these experiences and gains are like gold bracelets that they cannot find anywhere else. Thus, students receive a good education and succeed in business life. My advice is that students should apply for a number of studying abroad programs because they learn a lot of things about this when they apply. In this way, I believe they will succeed one day.
